If you experience any manufacturing defects with any of our products (hey, it happens sometimes), you’re covered by a legal 2-year warranty by default.

It’s also our goal to inspire others to go beyond what is legally required and make products that last as long as possible so that we can all drastically reduce the environmental footprint created by the manufacturing process.

Fairphone 4 extended warranty

For the majority of European countries, smartphones are covered by a 2-year warranty by default. With Fairphone 4, we go the extra mile to cover your new phone with an extended period of up to 5 years at no additional cost and no matter where or how you purchased the phone originally.

All you need to do is register your Fairphone 4 within the first 90 days since the day you purchased it.

Duration of your extended warranty

The duration of your Fairphone 4 warranty includes the standard 2 years plus the additional extension. This extension depends on when your Fairphone 4 was purchased.

Warranty for all products

Whether it’s one of our smartphones, an accessory or spare part, you will be covered by the legal 2-year warranty starting from the date of purchase or delivery depending on your circumstances. This covers all manufacturing defects. You can find examples of what’s not covered by warranty at the bottom of this page.

Remember to keep your receipt or a proof of purchase. You will always be asked for this if you ever need to make a warranty claim in the future.

Where to get help

If you have a warranty claim, you should always be serviced by the company you originally purchased from and if applicable, the costs for repairs, replacements and shipping will be arranged by that company.

  • Purchased from Fairphone’s website: that’s easy, you are in the right place and you should start a conversation with us directly.
 Contact customer support
  • Purchased from a reseller: it’s the resellers responsibility to help you further so we appreciate you contacting them if you have any issues.
  • Second-hand or gift: you should still contact the company where the product was originally purchased. You continue to benefit from the legal warranty even if you purchased second hand.

Troubleshooting and DIY repairs

We’re serious about our claim: Yours to open, yours to keep. Unlike other brands, we encourage you to repair, improve or upgrade your Fairphone yourself so a DIY repair for your Fairphone won’t necessarily void your warranty.

What’s not covered by warranty?

Issues including normal wear and tear, accidental or cosmetic damage are not covered by warranty. Here are some examples:

  • deterioration of your battery performance
  • broken display after you dropped your phone
  • Scratches on your back cover from daily handling

For whatever the reason your issue is not covered by warranty, we can still help you with any repairs that are needed and you can always find affordable spare parts and replacements on our website.
